The Love of Her Life

The Love of Her Life

It was the sun shining through the blinds that woke her from her slumber. When she opened her eyes, she saw her lover’s arm resting on her bare stomach. His touch always made her toes curl and heart race in the best way possible.

However, as she laid there in the quiet morning light, she felt like something was missing. She looked over at the man laying next to her asleep. She loved everything about him from his crazy curly hair to his crazy carefree spirit, but she knew there was one thing she needed that he couldn’t give her.

She sat up, careful not to awake him, and scanned the room until she suddenly found it.

If a person was walking by and happened to look in the window, at that moment, they would have said that her gaze landed on the love of her life’s lips and what she really needs is to feel his lips on her. But nobody looked into her window. Nobody saw that she was actually looking beyond he lover’s mouth at the table by the door where a large black leather bag sat.

She thought of its pebbled texture and how nice it felt in her hand. She could breathe in its leathery scent all day. Whenever she had to set it down, she could never go more than few minutes before looking at it again. That was the true love of her life.

She carefully slipped out from beneath her lover’s touch and tiptoed across the room. She cradled the bag in her arms as if it were a baby. She brought it back to bed and held it tight feeling its cold gold hardware gently press into her skin.

As she drifted back to sleep, embraced by her two loves, she never felt more complete.
